Subconscious raises a seed
TLDR: we have raised a seed round to further our mission of building a decentralized commons for thought.
We’re building an open protocol, and an app on top. That’s a tall order, and an unusual bet. Our investors include Blueyard, Betaworks, and Protocol Labs. We’re lucky to have found investors who share our vision of a knowledge commons, owned by users, and belonging to everybody.
Here’s a little video that shows some of what we’re up to.
An open protocol, and an app on top
What if humanity had a shared brain? What if it belonged to everybody? What if any app could build on top?
That’s Noosphere, a protocol for thought. You know those Roam/LogSeq/Obsidian graphs? Like that, except an open protocol. A worldwide thought graph, distributed peer-to-peer over IPFS.
Belonging to you. You own your data. It’s is secured with keys that you control. You have credible exit through IPFS, and through files synced to your device.
Belonging to everybody. Noosphere is a decentralized protocol that exists beyond any one app. Apps that implement Noosphere share the same knowledge commons. Users have the freedom to share data seamlessly between clients, and to take their data with them.
Noosphere is an open protocol that can support many clients, like email. Anyone can build a Noosphere client, and that’s just what we’re going to do!
Subconscious is the product we’re building on top of Noosphere. Your second brain, expanded by Noosphere’s worldwide thought graph. Follow friends and friendly AI agents. Every follow is a new synapse in your second brain.
We aim to make a great product you’ll want to use. It’ll have some cool features. We’ll charge money for some of them. No lock-in. Your data belongs to you, secured by keys you control, available through any IPFS peer, and synced as files to your device.
Trapping thoughts in app silos is small-brain. My galaxy brain take? It’s all about open protocols now.
